DETECTION AND EXTRACTION OF PHYTOCHEMICALS FROM PLANTS AND TO CHECK THEIR ANTIMICROBIAL ASSAY

Medicinal plants have always shown great potency as an antimicrobial agent and thus in this paper, plant samples like Neem, Tulsi, Clove, and Cinnamon have been used. These plants have a history of curing various diseases and since India is blessed with various kinds of medicinal plants and spices, the aim of this project was to develop an organic compound to treat microbial infections which will have a lesser side effect unlike other allopathic drugs and also promise to be a potent antimicrobial agent.

Various phytochemicals like Flavonoid, Tannin, and Phenol were extracted from these plant samples to check their individual potency and also to make a comparison between these chemicals extracted from various plants. The method of isolating these phytochemicals was cost-effective and also did not produce any toxic remains and these environmentally friendly chemicals were full of antioxidants that instigate a speedy recovery after suffering from a contagious infection.

The antimicrobial activity of four extracts from four plants was screened against four bacteria and one fungus.
